Wendy’s Vegan-Friendly Burger a Hit in Test Markets

Social media analysts say online conversations around the veganizeable burger are three times more positive than about the fast-food chain itself.

Wendy’s vegan-friendly Black Bean Burger—introduced first in 2015 to two locations in Ohio, then to select markets in Utah and South Carolina earlier this year—is reportedly being well-received, according to social media data.


TickerTags, a website that tracks social media engagement to identify opportunities for public stock growth, has found that conversations around the easily-made-vegan fast-food option to be extremely positive—as much as three times as positive as conversations about Wendy’s in general, reports Benzinga. The burger’s vegan black-bean patty—made with peppers, grains, corn, carrots, and a blend of spices—is prepared separately from meat options, served on a vegan multigrain bun (which is toasted in a common toaster with buns that contain egg and milk), and can be ordered without animal ingredients by omitting the pepper jack cheese and parmesan-ranch sauce.
