Not ONE, but there could be 64 MASSIVE alien megastructures orbiting stars close to Earth. The alien megastructures are more likely to be shaped like thin discs rather than ‘spherical shells.’ The best part is that we can easily identify them.
When astronomers noticed the dimming around the star, it created great confusion. Tabetha Boyajian, a postdoc at Yale, told The Atlantic: “We’d never seen anything like this star. It was really weird. We thought it might be bad data or movement on the spacecraft, but everything checked out.”
A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures most or all of its power output. The concept of the Dyson sphere was the result of a thought experiment by physicist and mathematician Freeman Dyson when he theorized that all technological civilizations constantly increased their demand for energy. He reasoned that if human civilization expanded energy demands long enough, there would come a time when it demanded the total energy output of the Sun.
Jason Wright, an astronomer at the Pennsylvania State University, these structures, or better said mega-structures, could be the product of a highly advanced alien civilization.
Now, astronomers say that not only could there be ONE alien megastructure, but 64 of them, all orbiting stars located near our solar system.
Scientists say that we shouldn’t have issues spotting these megastructures, as long as we know where to look for them.
Professor Zaza Osmanov, an astronomer from the Free University of Tbilisi, Georgia believes we could really have found evidence of such alien megastructures and we can even verify the claims using current technology.
Professor Osmanov made headlines in 2016 when he published a study saying that the alien megastructures are more likely to be shaped like thin discs rather than ‘spherical shells.’
If this theory is proven accurate, it would allow a Dyson Sphere to exist in a star’s habitable zone.
The new study published by Osmanov indicates that if the Dyson Sphere does exist in a habitable zone, it should be easy to spot using infrared telescopes.
In the new scientific paper—published on arXiv—Osmanov writes ‘We have argued that by monitoring the nearby zone of the solar system approximately 64 pulsars are expected to be located inside it.’
Furthermore, Osmanov warns that if we really come across a massive alien megastructure, then it could be EXTREMELY powerful, most likely, unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
In the paper, Osmanov argues that it is clear that such cosmic megastructures require enormous material to construct them.
“Rapidly rotating pulsars are very powerful and harvesting their energy would be quite profitable, but a habitable zone would be much farther and mass of a material required for constructing the mega-ring would exceed the total mass of all planets, asteroids, comets, centaurs and interplanetary dust in a typical planetary system by several orders of magnitude,” added Osmanov.
And what does this mean? Well, if these massive alien megastructures were built by ONE super civilization, it most likely is so powerful that it could annihilate us in the blink of an eye.
Furthermore, if various megastructures were built by different super alien civilizations, it would mean that our galaxy and universe is teeming with life, and most likely so advanced that we’d barely recognize it.
